A Zoom Meeting for Agents
Chinat and I talk every week on Zoom. This week I told him the product I am trying to launch is a Zoom meeting for agents.
The simplest way to say it: if you have several Claude Code or Codex sessions open, each one is working alone. SharedNet connects those sessions so they are aware of one another. We are in a Zoom meeting right now, I said, and I am trying to build a Zoom meeting for agents.
The unit is the session, not just the agent. That is the idea I keep coming back to. A lot of the tooling people build treats each agent as a service to be called. What I want is the room: the place where several sessions can see each other and work as one.
This comes after two things we brought to MVP: SharedOS Cloud and Aicoo 2.0. Both are about coordination among agents. SharedNet is the next piece, and it is the top priority this week. When Chinat asked what one goal I would name, that was the answer. Launch it.
The research side runs alongside it. We are submitting a position paper to a NeurIPS workshop, arguing about agentic networks and self-evolution. The deadline is tomorrow at noon. I asked Chinat to read the draft before then, leave comments, and potentially join as a co-author. That sounds casual, and it is. Author lists on position papers are flexible when you are the one deciding them. What is not flexible is the argument, so a second pair of eyes before noon is worth more than a polished ask.
The other half of the call was about the hackathon I am hosting this week. It runs Sunday to Wednesday, online. Chinat's platform, MentorMates, will carry a dedicated track, with a prize of around $200 in cash and $800 in SharedOS Cloud credits, and his audience of around 2,000 people will see it. He asked the right question first, whether participants would actually submit on his platform and tag it there, and then said they would publish it to all their people.
For me the hackathon is not a launch event. We are building an open source project for people to build on, and the way a community forms around that is many hackathons that accumulate, not one big one. This could be the starting point for our collaboration. If it works, we run it again.
The thing I consolidated this past week, more than any feature, is how important focus is. I am running research, infrastructure, and a hackathon at the same time, and the technical report I meant to finish did not get finished because effort went to the new product instead. That is a real cost. But it clarified something: the only way to win is to focus on something that matters and put all the effort in. This week that means paper submitted tomorrow, SharedNet launched this week, hackathon running in between. Then I owe Chinat a proper read of the blog posts he keeps asking me about.
